Our Kakaako Launches Free Community WiFi

Kamehameha Schools’ Our Kaka‘ako launches one of the fastest free public WiFi networks in the nation, bringing high speed Internet access to the community.

The connection will span over nine city blocks of between Ala Moana Boulevard, South, Halekauwila and Cooke Streets.


Designed by Hawaii Dialogix Telcom (HDT), the Our Kaka‘ako WiFi network offers upload and download speeds that are up to 10 times faster than most home Internet connections. It also features seamless roaming and the capacity to accommodate a multitude of simultaneous users.

Our Kaka‘ako WiFi is the backbone of a neighborhood built on innovation, entrepreneurship and education. It’s a tool to further empower creativity in the Our Kaka‘ako community and nurture connections throughout Hawaii and the world.

Get connected with Our Kaka‘ako WiFi:

  • Go to your smartphone or tablet’s settings and find “Wi-Fi.”
  • Choose the “Our Kaka‘ako WiFi” network.
  • Agree to the terms and conditions.
  • Never fight over a seat in a coffee shop again.

Our Kaka‘ako WiFi will be rolling out throughout the neighborhood during the first few weeks of March.

    Maybe you should consider finding another contractor besides HDT.
    The Kakaako neighborhood wifi is the most consistently unusable public wifi I have experienced in all my travels.
    I don’t know if it was just the time I was in the islands, but every city that I travel to, does not have the kind of issues I experienced.

    “Obtaining IP address…” would be the start and end of things.

    I’m sure many others who have tried to use Kakaako, know what I’m talking about.
