Foodland Farms at Ala Moana Center opens today providing another grocery store option for the Kakaako neighborhood. The locally owned and operated grocery store was one of the original tenants at Ala Moana Center when the mall first opened. They closed there doors a few years ago, and with the new Ewa Wing being recently completed, it provided them an opportunity to come back to the center.
The new Foodland Farms is far more than just your ordinary grocery store, the new concept will bring many prepared food options like: Made to order grilled steak, thin-crust pizza, shaved ice, a donut machine, fresh pressed juices, and much more. At the old Foodland location, many employees that work in the mall would buy their lunch from the grocery store, and with the new concept, it gives everyone a lot more options.
Parking was an issue with the old location, especially if you just wanted to stop in to grab something quick. With the new location, across the way from the new Shirokiya and adjacent to Piikoi street, there is a bunch of 15 minute parking fronting the store. So you’ll never have to wait long for a spot.
I think bringing Foodland back to the mall was a really great idea, and changing the concept created a new shopping experience. A miniature version of this would be perfect of the westside of Kakaako next to the Civic Rail Station and Keauhou Place!
