Ae’o at Ward Village
Ae’o, located at 1001 Queen street, is a high-rise mixed-use project developed by Howard Hughes. The condo tower will feature 466 residential units with 65 studios, 220 one-bedroom units, 125 two-bedroom units, and 56 three-bedroom units. One of the unique selling features of Ae’o will be that a majority of the units in the building will offer spectacular ocean views. Design by Architects Bowlin Cywinski Jackson, the unique windows or “wings” are oriented in such a way that each unit will become very familiar with the endless blues of the Pacific Ocean.
Studio units started at $410,000 and sold out almost immediately. One-bedroom units started at $560,000 and a large majority sold out in the first week or so, a few higher floor (and therefor higher priced) units are available. Two-bedroom units started from $860,000 and all of the units listed under $1,000,000 sold very fast. There are a bunch still available in the $1,200,000 to $1,800,000 range. Three-bedroom started at around $2,000,000 and there are still a lot of options available.
Ward Village and the neighborhood
Ward Village is a 60 acre master-planned community being developed in Kakaako, the heart of Honolulu. Located between world famous Waikiki and downtown Honolulu, it is an ideal place to grow Oahu’s urban core. Within Ward Village you will find restaurants, movie theaters, restaurants, boutiques, bars, and anything else one could possibly ask for and all of it within walking distance to your new home. Great walkability is the what the developer is trying achieve within the community and I ‘m excited to see what the future holds for the neighborhood.
Whole Foods Market
The Whole Foods Market will be located on the ground floor and will be roughly 50,000 square feet, making it the largest Whole Foods Market in the state. With no other large grocery store in the neighborhood, Whole Foods will be a hub for the many residents and future residents that call Ward Village and Kakaako home, ever increasing the walkability of the growing neighborhood.
Floor plans & options
When it comes to floor plans, Ae’o truly offers something for everyone. You can choose from 3 studio options, 13 one-bedroom options, 14 two-bedroom options, and 6 three-bedroom options. You can find a studio from 400 square feet and the three bedrooms are just over 1,300 square feet. More than all the options when it comes to floor plans, are the amazing finishes that you have to choose from. Ae’o offers seven different finish options in the main living/kitchen area and three different finish options in the bathrooms. My personal favorite is called “Air” (pictured below) because of it’s great neutral palette that is clean and inviting.
When the project was launched in the summer of 2015 prices averaged around $1,000 to 1,200 a square foot. Pricing for the one bedroom units and studios have gone up, but two- and three- bedroom units have stayed the same. The pricing is “affordable” relative to Howard Hughes’ other three projects in the neighborhood Waiea, Anaha, and The Gateway, which average $1,400 to $2,000 a square foot.
