Kapiolani Residence is a condo project completed at the end of 2018 by Korean developer Sam Koo. The project is one of the first of it's kind offering 40% of the total units in the building to buyers qualifying under the affordable housing rules established by the Hawaii Housing Finance & Development Corporation (HHFDC). The project features 494 units spread over 45 stories. Kapiolani residence is the first project to come up in the newly branded Midtown Ala Moana Neighborhood which will see six to ten new projects over the next five to seven years including Sam Koo's second condo tower The Central Ala Moana.
With close proximity to Ala Moana Shopping Center, current and future residents of the Ala Moana Midtown Neighborhood will have everything they could ever want within walking distance. There is plenty to do within the neighborhood if you want stay fit, 24 hour fitness and Planet Fitness are two options, with Ala Moana Beach Park offering plenty of outdoor fitness classes as well as walking/jogging paths with amazing views. Groceries stores are not in short supply with Don Quiote, Foodland Farms, Palama Market, and Whole Foods Market all within walking distance.
Though by far my favorite thing about The Ala Moana Midtown Neighborhood are all the awesome restaurants. Everything from one start to five star, there is something for everyone. My Favorite? Seoul Garden, an awesome Korean Yakiniku restaurant.
To keep maintenance fees low, the developer decided against putting a lot of amenities in this building. You have a recreation deck with just a few gathering spots, no pool or gym in this building. There is a 24 hour fitness directly across the street and a Planet Fitness just a two minute walk away so finding somewhere to work out shouldn't be difficult.
There is also a recreation room for get togethers which is always a popular and useful amenity to have.
