Waihonua has to be one of my favorite condos in all of Kakaako. The project was developed by Alexander & Baldwin who has an amazing track record with residential projects in Honolulu. Waihonua has 341 units in the building spread out over 43 stories. This project has an ideal location between Ala Moana Shopping Center and Ward Village. That's a 3 minute walk to Whole Foods Market and a 3 minute walk to Foodland Farms.
Waihonua isn't technically a high-end luxury building but it certainly feels like one. The building was completed in 2015.
Located on the far east end of Kakaako makes Waihonua a great building with close access to Ala Moana Beach Park, Ala Moana Shopping Center, and quick access to Waikiki. Like I mentioned earlier it's a short 3 minute walk to Whole Foods Market and a 2 minute walk to all the restaurants and shops at South Shore Market in Ward Village. Waihonua provides amazing walkability similar to a lot of the other projects in Kakaako.
Waihonua has one of the best amenity decks in my opinion. A large pool with ample BBQ cabanas make it a favorite among buyers that I've shown there. The wood decking around the pool makes it feel like you're at a resort and the landscaping surrounding the deck provides privacy and creates an oasis type of feeling. Other amenities you can expect are:
One, two, and three bedroom floor plans are available. Units are hardwood floors in entry ways, kitchens and living areas with carpet in the bedrooms. All units come with a full-size stacked washer and dryer system. Bosch appliances can be found throughout the unit with polished granite countertops and stainless steel sinks.
The overall design and use of space in the units were very smartly done. Design Partners Inc was the architect for the project and they have a lot of experience designing residential condominiums. There is no inefficiencies in the units.
