Manoa, Hawaii is a picturesque community that’s a valley and a residential area. This neighborhood receives a lot of rain, and as a result, rainbows are very common here. The common occurrence of rainbows actually inspired the local college, the University of Hawaii at Manoa, to name its sports teams the Rainbow Warriors (men’s teams) and the Rainbow Wahine (women’s teams). Even though it rains often in Manoa, other times it’s nice and sunny, which is one of the reasons why homeowners love living here.
Manoa has a small town atmosphere with its population at around 24,000 residents. Nevertheless, there are seemingly endless attractions here that entertain both homeowners and visitors. For example, stop by the Honolulu Museum of Art to gaze at exhibits. It has 32 galleries of classic Western and Asian art that surround six courtyard gardens. Adjacent to this place is the Spalding House, an extension of the art museum. It holds art pieces dating from 1940 to the present day. A regal and historical place to check out is the Queen Emma Summer Palace. It was once the summer retreat of Queen Emma, who was King Kamehameha IV’s wife. Touring the palace gives you a glance at the life of the Hawaiian monarchy. If you love trees, visit Lyon Arboretum, a botanical garden that is operated by the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Or, go to Manoa Falls for a hike and a scenic view along its 1.5-mile trek which leads to a humongous waterfall. Another hiking area in Manoa is Pu'u Ualaka'a State Park which boasts several hiking trails that take you to a rainforest. It’s an experience that’s so breathtaking, you may forget that you’re in a small city.
